Merry Edwards Presents a Limited Library Offering:
A Collection of 2011 Vineyard Designate Pinot Noirs

2011 Flax Vineyard Pinot Noir
93 points
"If by no means a "light" wine, the Flax Vineyard Pinot shows a slightly lighter, more graceful side than its several siblings, and it earns the nod as our favorite by dint of its careful crafting and exemplary balance. It is long on fully ripe cherries and shows great fruity stamina with well-measured oak in quiet but constant support, and its neatly proportioned spine of fine structural tannins bodes well for another half-dozen or more years of steady improvement."

2011 Meredith Estate Pinot Noir
94 points / Cellar Selection
"Only great wineries can succeed in a brutally challenging vintage like 2011, and Merry Edwards did. This wine is not completely approachable now, being all dryness, tannins and acidity. Notes of wild mushrooms, brown rice, red licorice, cola, clove and white pepper frame the essential core of sour cherry candy. Drink 2019 and beyond."
Steve Heimoff, Wine Enthusiast, June 2014

2011 Coopersmith Pinot Noir
96 points
"What's so wonderful about this Pinot is the way it reconciles all sorts of opposites. It’s dry but sweet in fruit, and delicate yet potent at the same time. It’s totally accessible now, but enormously complex. Flavors of raspberries and cherries meld with pomegranates and persimmons, as well as mushrooms, tea and licorice. It’s a joy to drink now, and should develop in the cellar for at least 10 years."

2011 Olivet Lane Pinot Noir
97 points
"Historically, the Olivet Lane Vineyard pinot has been Merry's signature achievement in the world of fine wine, a triumph in virtually every vintage. It remains so even in the challenging year of 2011, when foul weather was the main story line. This vintage of Olivet Lane is sensational, showing an earthy character on the nose that the French like to call "garrigue." This wine is all about dark fruits and spice, with a hint of anise and tremendous depth without losing its elegant persona. One of the finest California pinots I've tasted this year."
Robert Whitley, Wine Talk, “Thoughts for the Year”

2011 Georganne Pinot Noir
96 points
"With remarkable purity of fruit, this is another brilliant effort from Merry Edwards, the queen of California Pinot Noir. On the nose there is a whiff of violet, and subtle earthiness. On the palate the wine unfolds elegantly, showing layers of raspberry and blueberry fruit, the scent of mocha, and a hint of spice. On the finish there is real honest-to-goodness grip, which bodes well for the future evolution of this superb example of Russian River Valley Pinot that has obviously benefited from the deft skills of a master artisanal winemaker."

2011 Klopp Ranch Pinot Noir
94 points
"The vineyard is in the cool, southeastern part of the valley, a region whose Pinots always are dark, dry, tannic and age-worthy. In this cool vintage, this wine is all of the above. Its black sour-cherry-candy flavors have hints of conifer, white tobacco, clove and anise, complex notes that will evolve in interesting ways. The acidity is brisk and mouthwatering, and will help the wine age through 2023, at the least. Cellar Selection"
