This rare cuvée celebrates the birth of Merry's first grandchild, August Wang Miller. She was born in the auspicious eighth month of 2014 – the year of the wooden horse. The label design honors her Chinese heritage. Like Merry's granddaughter, this Pinot Noir is a keeper and should age with beauty and grace.

Velvety smooth and perfumed, it offers piquant pepper and cardamom scents, along with intense rhubarb compote and raspberry flavors. "The grapes for Merry Edwards’ Cuvée August, named after her first grandchild and her most expensive Pinot Noir, come from the top part of the slope of the Meredith Estate. A dazzling and explosive wine, its concentration almost borders on a “Pinot Syrah” style, but does not cross the line. It’s just rich and savory and refined all at once. Despite its power, it’s still closed and tightly wound. At this stage, the “regular” (I hate to call it that) Meredith Estate is more expressive. It will be fun to see how they develop over the next five to ten years."

"This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Merry Edwards is very, very good. It opens with a fragrant and appealing strawberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth and elegant. The flavor profile is a tasty mild strawberry with notes of gentle minerality and hints of red raspberry. The finish is dry and its flavors drift away nicely. This Pinot evolves nicely with a little air, so we would suggest decanting it for a bit. It would pair nicely with grilled veal chop."
